University of Bordeaux
Ranked among the top universities in France for the quality of its academic courses and scientific community, the University of Bordeaux was one of the first universities to obtain confirmation of the “Initiative of Excellence” label, awarded by the French government in recognition of its innovative training, research and knowledge transfer programs.
Within the ENLIGHT European alliance, the University of Bordeaux along with nine other universities from the four corners of Europe pursues an ambitious strategy for educational and research transformation. The strategy defines and addresses six main flagship challenges, which are key determinants of societal well-being and sustainability: health and well-being, climate action, digital innovation, equity, energy transition and circularity and culture and creativity.
A multidisciplinary education offer
The University of Bordeaux welcomes 52,000 students, of which almost 2,000 are PhD students and 7,200 are international students. 245 national degrees, from vocational to doctoral level are proposed within the four major scientific fields of:

A wide range of international study programs have been developed at Bachelor, Master and Doctorate level enabling students to study in English (or other languages) and/or that offer the possibility of studying abroad and/or completing joint or double degrees.

The university counts 82 research laboratories that are under joint supervision with national research bodies. A Graduate Research School coordinates the entire field of doctoral studies in collaboration with the eight doctoral schools that ensure support and guidance for PhD students. Graduate Research Programs have been launched within the domains of Neuroscience, Digital public health, Light sciences and technologies, Advanced chemistry, Cardiac electrophysiology, Cancer biology and Data sciences.
A dynamic campus
The University of Bordeaux has one of the largest campuses (187 hectares) in Europe. It is composed of several sites that are located near to the city and that offer a broad range of services and amenities. 135 student associations exist and participate in the organization of a wide range of cultural activities throughout the academic year: workshops, film debates, science cafés, lectures, exhibitions, concerts, shows, etc. A campus of excellence for sports as well, the university offers more than 50 sporting activities for beginners or experienced athletes, ranging from rugby to surfing to dancing and more!
